The three-day Sahabat Laut – Raja Ampat Youth Marine Conservation Camp brings together young people from various schools across Raja Ampat to learn more about the unique marine life of their home and take responsibility for its protection.
Through workshops and hands-on activities, participants explore topics such as coral reefs, marine conservation, waste management, and the sustainable use of natural resources. Our own apprentices play a special role in this: they design and lead the workshops themselves, sharing their knowledge while gaining valuable experience in responsibility and leadership.

In just one generation, the story of our student Mesly shows how education and environmental protection can work together to drive change. Mesly, who gained her knowledge at the Child Aid Papua school, convinced her father—a former shark fisherman—that there are more sustainable ways to make a living today.
In the documentary Rewilding Sharks, Mesly shares a powerful account of her journey and her commitment to shark conservation. Her story is an inspiring example of how education empowers young people to build a better future for themselves and the world around them.
The "Ocean Warrior" project was developed by our school and has been successfully implemented in several villages in Raja Ampat. Through the "Ocean Warrior" program, children and teenagers in Raja Ampat learn about the devastating impact of plastic waste on their unique environment—and, most importantly, how they can take active steps to combat it. Using a specially created textbook and hands-on activities like island cleanups, the children gain not only knowledge but also collect waste.

The Child Aid Papua school is an official educational partner of the UNESCO Global Geopark Raja Ampat. This collaboration underscores our shared goal: to foster a deeper understanding of the unique biodiversity, geodiversity, and cultural heritage of Raja Ampat.
Through this partnership, we are developing Geopark Heroes – young changemakers who not only gain a better understanding of their environment but also grow into dedicated protectors of their land and seas. Our curriculum is closely linked to Geopark knowledge, empowering learners to raise awareness for the protection of their home and actively contribute to preserving the incomparable beauty and diversity of Raja Ampat.
