Child Aid Papua

The unique environmental school in the heart of Raja Ampat.

Child Aid Papua High School

A Pioneer in West Papua's Education System

Right in front of the world's most biodiverse coral reefs, nestled in dense mangrove forests and surrounded by the majestic jungle landscape of West Papua — here, in the heart of the Raja Ampat island region, is where our school is located.
‍We provide access to high-quality education and open up new perspectives for a better future for children and young people from Southwest Papua.

Our mission

We create opportunities for children and young people in Papua to build a brighter future. Through high-quality education, practical experience, and environmental awareness, we prepare them for success at university, in the workplace, and in life. Along the way, they develop responsibility, confidence, social skills, and respect for people and nature.

Our work

At the heart of our work is a free six-year academic and vocational education program with a safe boarding school for children from the remote islands of Raja Ampat. By combining high-quality education, residential care, healthcare, career preparation, and environmental stewardship, we equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed at university, in the workforce, and as future leaders in their communities.

Having traveled extensively and documented numerous aid projects worldwide, the experiences I encountered at Child Aid Papua Foundation were truly exceptional and unlike anything I have witnessed elsewhere – I am deeply impressed.

Kids are the main and important part of a development plan. They can transfer the knowledge to their families and have an effective role to develop the concepts. Congratulation to Child Aid Papua School to provide this opportunity for the kids of this region! Really fantastic!

Alireza Amrikazemi, UNESCO Global Geopark Evaluator

I had the honour of visiting the Child Aid Papua high school in 2024 and filming for a day with the children in year 9. I was struck by the joy and engagement the children had with learning and the knowledge and connection they all shared with the natural world. The school is extraordinary and I think the children attending this school are incredibly lucky to have this facility and support.
